Put aside the future of educational technology… what’s the current status of digital classrooms? This infographic likes to tell you the story summary from survey results published at PBS, Pearson Foundation, NY Times, TechCrunch, EdTechDigest, Mashable, Tomorrow Org., Scholastic, BIE org., The Society for Learning Analytics Research… (detail citation can be found at the bottom).
The components of a 21st century classroom includes project-based learning, games and gamification, online learning(blended learning), learning analytics, tablets, wireless connection, integration of social media, e-textbooks and open source textbooks. With strong reasons of using technologies in teaching and learning, only 1 in 5 teachers feel their classrooms have the right level of technology. Increasing the presence of the above technology components can change this ratio drastically. Although learning management system isn’t included in this work, it should be the base that connects all the learning activities going between teachers and students, now there are a lot of free choices out there.
