CS for Good (CS4Good)

CS for All (Computer Science for all) is a new initiative to empower all US students from kindergarten through high school to learn computer science and be equipped with the computational thinking skills they need to be creators in the digital economy, not just consumers, and to be active citizens in our technology-driven world.

CS4Good is to extend the idea — “CS is useful for individuals, and it’s also what you can leverage to make this world better”.

CS for What?

Although there is CS4All initiative, in a traditional classroom setting, students might still wonder “CS for what?” if CS is just an independent subject. That perception often connects CS with vocational training, and make it nonrelevant¬†to students not pursuing related careers.

To make CS relevant for all, here are different motivators for different learners:

Competitions

Global impact of CS

Changing how learners learn

Real-world projects

Computer Science for good causes

Building a startup

Data Science for Social Good
